EPIC’s management team is made up of representatives from UK insulated panel manufacturers that are already very busy with their main roles within these organisations, but EPIC needed to be able to consistently and efficiently pool information, collate technical information, and respond to consultations. Especially when these are on time-sensitive issues that directly impact the construction industry and stakeholders, such as fire safety, sustainable construction, and building design.
As EPIC is relatively small, with limited resources, it is essential that the team is supported by the Policy and Public Affairs Officer (formerly the General Secretary) and its PR and marketing consultants, Smith Goodfellow PR (SGPR), to regularly collate comments on UK Government, construction industry and, in some cases, relevant European standards and regulations consultations. We (SGPR) then use over four decades of construction expertise to draft clear, informed responses that reflect the interests of our client (EPIC), its members, the industry, and the building’s end users.
We began working with EPIC in 2006, helping the organisation maintain a consistent and informed voice across a wide range of industry consultations. Since 2017, we have supported this particular objective by writing, gaining approval and submitting a total of 40 consultation responses on EPIC’s behalf.
