Smith Goodfellow is proud to have joined the growing number of businesses supporting the Greater Manchester Good Employment Charter. The Charter is a voluntary membership and assessment scheme that aims to “raise employment standards across the region, for all organisations of any size, sector or geography”. With two tiers of involvement – supporter and member – the Charter assesses businesses across seven key characteristics of good employment, covering everything from secure, flexible work to pay and health and wellbeing.

Joining the charter at the ‘supporter’ entry tier involves making a commitment to improve practice in each of the seven good employment areas. Businesses can then undergo an assessment to become a full member, in recognition of achieving good practice and continual improvement across the characteristics.

Speaking about the decision to join the charter, our Director of Business Development, Jen Heil, said:

“We’re proud and excited to have taken this step to support the Greater Manchester Good Employment Charter and be part of the movement for better employment practice in the region. Looking after our staff has always been our number one priority. From offering flexible working as standard to providing wellbeing support and fun employee perks, we are always looking for ways to improve our employees’ experience of being part of the SG team. We want our people to love coming to work and to feel valued, supported and included as they build their careers with us. Supporting the charter will help us to continue to develop and demonstrate this commitment.”

Having made the initial supporter commitment, we are aiming to undertake the assessment phase to become a full member later this year.
