Skill: Brand & Creative

The not-for-profit, Engineered Panels in Construction (EPIC), was established in 1991. After many years working with some of the biggest insulated panel manufacturers in the UK, it was time for an update.

Challenge

As it is a well-respected trade association providing experienced and technical input to the industry and Government bodies, the EPIC management team wanted to ensure its branding helped them to convey this level of professionalism whilst still maintaining a unique presence.

We needed to establish a consistent, easily identifiable brand presence across the website, social media, in technical literature, on business cards, and at industry events.

In addition, there was a large amount of literature in the old branding which looked outdated and we didn’t have access to the original design files. We wanted to ensure that the new style would be easier to edit and update, should technical information such as Building Regulations change.

Solution

In response to these challenges, we delivered:

  • Simplified branding including fonts and colour palette.
  • Created a ‘tone of voice’ and ‘branding style’ guide.
  • Marketing assets such as: logo, business cards, banner and stand for exhibitions, guidance document template, social media graphic templates, and a presentation template.

We’d supported with the design and development of the Engineered Panels in Construction (EPIC) website in 2016 in collaboration with our long-time creative partner, Steve Perry Creative. Following the brand refresh, this was also updated.

Results

The result is a refreshed brand which accurately reflects the professionalism and influence of the trade association. This has been rolled out across numerous pieces of literature and used on event stands at two key events:

  • GraftersLIVE – ‘Northern Powerhouse’ event (2 Oct 2018)
    • In the 2 weeks over the event, the EPIC website saw new visitors increase by 59.88% from the previous year.
  • Fire Safety Event (7 Sept-9 Sept 2021)

The updated website also saw a significant growth in traffic.

Web analytics – 24 Aug – 10 Oct 2020 vs 2021

Relevant landing pages:

  • ‘PIR the facts’ was up 236.19%.
  • ‘EPIC fire tests’ was up 61.67%.
  • ‘Fire case studies’ was up by 50%.
  • ‘Fire Safety and Performance in Fire’ was up 60%.

We also saw increased downloads of the updated literature. For example, the ‘Identification and Disposal’ guide was updated and replaced the original 2016 guide 22 June 2022. EPIC saw website downloads for this document increase by 28.57% on the previous year (July-June).
