It has never been more important for businesses to acknowledge and take responsibility for their impact on the environment and communities around them. We’re excited to formally recognise our commitment to doing this through the launch of our first Impact Report — a key milestone in our 40-year-old business’ development.
The Report, which will be created annually, assesses our company’s impact in three key areas: people (staff and clients), planet (environmental impact) and profit (governance and supply chain). It seeks to not only formalise the positive organisational culture we have developed over our history but to provide a clear and public roadmap for meaningful action to improve our impact in the long term.
Our Managing Director, Cathy Barlow, explains the significance of the project:
“As PR professionals to the construction industry, we have an important part to play in promoting and demonstrating environmental, social and economic sustainability — and one of the biggest ways we can do that is by leading by example. By creating a robust and repeatable impact reporting strategy, we want to not only celebrate all the positive actions we do already, but to identify areas where we can do better and hold ourselves accountable for doing so. The Report is a testament to the passion of the whole SG team, and we hope that it will inspire other SMEs in our field to follow suit.”
The report was launched on the 9 November at Stockport Council’s first Climate Action Now (CAN) Summit by our Business Development Manager, Jen. The virtual event, which included presentations from many local businesses and community leaders, showcased the Council’s commitment to tackle climate change and the region’s ambition to be carbon neutral by 2038.
